One of my favorite quick + easy breakfast recipes (outside of a green juice) is an açaí bowl.  Not only does it taste delicious, but it also looks great too.. which earns major points in my book.  What I love about açaí bowls, is that like green juice, the possibilities are endless.  Today’s recipe is a little tropical but with a good dose of healthy (hidden) greens. Last week, I attended a work dinner at Fig & Olive, in the meatpacking.  For those non-New Yorkers,  the “meatpacking” is a neighborhood in NYC running south from West 14th to Gansevoort Street and east from the Hudson River to Hudson Street.  Fig & Olive, is one of those rare chain restaurants that gets it right every time!  I have been to 3 out of 6 of their locations, multiple times, and have never once been disappointed.  In fact, each… Read more »

Growing up, one of my favorite comfort foods that I will never forget is a nice warm helping of Grandma Carmichael’s grits on a cold winter morning.  Most people I find, make their greats a little creamier, but I prefer the more solid consistency of Carmichael Grits.  I was lucky enough to be able to learn from the best growing up, and when it came to grits, my Grandma taught me everything she knew.   While the return of the PSL (Pumpkin Spice Latte) at Starbucks is always is a happy moment for me, since giving up coffee last year, I have to admit it’s not as exciting, until now… Move over Starbucks, there’s a new Pumpkin Spice in town! Açai bowls seems to be everywhere these days!  Up until a few weeks ago, I had never heard of them, then one day our intern,  Lisa brought one into work for breakfast and I was instantly intrigued.  Anything that is colorful, involves fruit, and looks pretty is something I want to try.  The ones Lisa used to bring in were from Juice Generation, but there was no way I would ever have the time to walk 3 blocks and  4… Read more »
